6th graders wear me OUT!!!

I love being able to stay home with my kids...it is a huge blessing. But occasionally while they are at school I substitute teach.

Today I taught a bunch of rowdy 6th graders and they were exhausting!!! I was at the school from 8-4 then rushed 35 miles to Warrens soccer game in Sandpoint then back another 35 miles for Warrens last basketball game. Needless to say I am pooped!! I can't believe how tired I am.

I know that I should go but I just cannot bring myself to drive to the gym tonight. It is after 9 and I am dead. I am kinda beating myself up about it but have decided a good nights rest is what I need. I can make up my work out tomorrow right? That's what I keep telling myself...just do a really good work out tomorrow and it will make up for today.

If you are on a get healthy journey than I hope you all had a more motivating day than I did. Hopefully you all worked out hard and can be proud. I will be proud too....tomorrow!!

Until next time,
Lisa

Starting again!!!

I haven't blogged in forever. But I am wanting to get started again because I know it will help me on my journey. Last year was a year of change for our family. We moved away from my hometown and for the first time in our lives we are living somewhere without family. But we are loving it. Moving here changed a lot of things for me. I know longer had to have a full time job (thanks honey!!) so come October of last year I decided to change my life...physically to start, but along with that came a mental and emotional change too. I have a ways to go still and I know that sharing my story will help me stay focused. I hope you enjoy.

So last week when I weighed in I was at 192. I set a goal right then and there to be under 190 when I weighed myself the following Tuesday. I was so excited knowing that I had not weighed under 190 in 13 years!! I worked hard and watched what I ate just knowing that I would get under that weight if I set my mind to it.

Needless to say....it didn't happen. When I weighed in this week I had lost 1 pound. I am stuck at 191. I was starting to get a little bummed and frustrated when something hit me. I am at 191 now...when I started this process I was 236.....HOLY CRAP!!!! I JUST LOST 45 POUNDS!!! I know longer care that I didn't hit "THAT" goal I had set the week before. I have lost 45 pounds. That is huge!!!!

I was so focused on the actual number of 190 pounds that I almost let a couple of pounds prevent me from realizing something momentous for me. My overall accomplishment of 45 pounds!! (sorry..i just have to keep saying it!) I have decided that I will celebrate an accomplishment every week. I will not be focused on a certain "number". We all know how easy it is to gain a pound in a week so every week I don't gain weight I will celebrate! And if I do gain a pound or two I will celebrate the fact that I am on this life changing journey. It will not be easy and it will not happen overnight...but it WILL happen.

Lets all make a commitment to see our lives from the positive perspective. There is enough negative out there without us adding to it.

Until next time.

My Mothers Day

I woke up this morning feeling just terrible. I believe I just have a sinus infection but I was feeling miserable. My honey had to work so it was just me and the kids today. I actually went back to bed after Chad left for work at 7:45 and didn't wake up until 10:30. Needless to say we didn't make it to church.

I did enjoy my day though. Warren was anxious to make me breakfast but because it was almost lunch time before I was hungry he made me a turkey sandwich and said Happy Mothers Day. It was a great sandwich. He trys very hard to make me happy each day but especially on important days like today.

Makenzie woke up very sore after pitching 6 innings yesterday. But we rubbed some icy hot on it and have just been trying to ice her most of the day. She is a trooper and usually doesn't complain to much about being sore from softball so if she says she is hurting it must be bad. Alex didn't get home from his baseball tournament until about 1:30 this morning so I let him sleep in too.

After everyone was awake and I was feeling better we decided to take a short hike up to Copper Creek Falls. It is only about 2 miles up the road and the falls are beautiful. We love to go their and hike the trail. It is one of my favorite spots in the area. I took some pictures but havent figured out how to upload them yet so I will try to post them soon.

After our hike we had dinner and then Alex and I went out and threw the baseball around for about 45 minutes. As we were coming in we noticed that a hummingbird was trapped in our garage and was unable to find its way out. As Alex was trying to guide it out the door with his baseball glove it just stopped flying and landed on his glove. I got a picture of it. I will post that soon too. Anyway, he just held his glove out and walked out the garage door with it and then it flew away.

I missed having Chad with us today but otherwise it was a great day. I love my family and enjoy days like this when I have them all to myself. I will cherish these days...especially as the kids get older. Alex will be a Senior next year so I theoretically could only have him home for one more year. Makes me sad to even think about it.

Hope you all enjoyed this mother day with your families.

Busy Saturday!!!

What a day we have had. Alex's baseball team went to Orofinio on Friday for district tournament play. They went in to the tournament ranked second in a single elimation bracket. They won on Friday and played today for the District Championship. I just got a phone call that they beat the #1 ranked team and are DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!!!! It is awesome for this little town here in the north. We will be going to Onatrio Oregon on Wednesday to play in the state championship series. I am so excited for him and the team. I also heard that our hometown team, the Mtn. Home Tigers won districts also.

Makenzies softball team also played their first game today. She pitched the full innings and did a great job. She is a great ball player and I love to watch all of them play. Her team ended up losing the game by 1 in the bottom of the 6th. They were a head by 3 but 2 errors in the outfield alowed 4 runs to score. She was a little bummed but she was happy with how she did.

Warrens team played last night. He did well and the team was hitting and fielding well also. Nevertheless they lost by 2. He was a little bummed to sit out for more than half the game but he coached 1st base and did a great job of cheering on his teamate. I was very proud of him.
All in all it has been a good weekend. Poor dad has had to work 16 hour shifts the last 3 days so he has not seen any games yet. We hate that he works so much but we do enjoy the pay!!! So ig uess we wont be moving to town until after next week since we are heading south for the tournament. Guess I should start packing again.

New 2 Me

This is the view from our front door.

Ok...everyone I know has been talking to me about blogging, especially now that our family has left our hometown and moved up north. I am giving it a shot. I'm not making any promises about how often I will blog, especially right now with where we are living. We live in a very small town (97 people...when we moved in the pop. broke 100!!! It is now 102) and all they have here is dial up.

We have been here since February and it is beautiful. I wake up every morning to deer in the front or back yard. It is green (no more desert!!) and quiet. I do enjoy it very much. But....we are 35 miles aways from the nearest town which is where my kids go to school and all of their friends live so around the 16th of May we are moving closer to town.
The kids are all invovled in their sports. Warren finished baseketball and his team went undeafeated into the tournaments where they lost one game. He is now doing baseball. Makenzie is playing softball although it is not at the level of play she is used to playing. The program is new here and they havent had much sucess but she is persevering. Alex is playing baseball for the varisty team. He is doing well and is at districts right now.
Chad is working alot. We miss seeing him but enjoy the fact that I can stay home and be with the family while he is gone at work. I have no plans to work while I am here as long as we can handle it financially. So far so good.
If you are ever up north or want to pass through to Canada (it is 1500 ft from my front door) give us a heads up. We would love to have visitors.
